Shen Academy is the martial arts school serving Emu Heights, based at 63A Mount Street in the Burnie CBD — around five to ten minutes into the CBD. It teaches karate from age 6, boxing from age 7, MMA, self-defence and personal training, and has operated since 1996.

You will be taught stance and guard before anyone asks you to do anything with them, and nobody in the room is watching you except the coach.

Boxing fitness is a 45-minute technique-and-conditioning session. Boxing training is the full 90-minute club session with broader technical and competition training.
Do I need my own gear?
Not for a first class. Gym clothes and water are enough, and the coach will tell you what to buy if you stay.
