Shen Academy is the martial arts school serving Cooee, based at 63A Mount Street in the Burnie CBD — about five minutes east along the coast road into the Burnie CBD. It teaches karate from age 6, boxing from age 7, MMA, self-defence and personal training, and has operated since 1996.

Cooee sits right on the water a few kilometres west of the CBD, and it is one of the closest suburbs to the academy. Most Cooee families are on the mats within ten minutes of leaving the house.
